We partner with you to provide personalized care

Selecting a mental health care provider you feel comfortable with is very important. The success of treatment depends on the relationship between you and your doctor. When you enter our office, Dr. Ben will be focused on listening and understanding you. Unlike other doctors, he starts his appointments on time and does not type or answer the phone when meeting with you. Together, he will develop a personalized treatment plan with you based on an understanding of your experiences and preferences.

Adult patients can work with Dr. Ben in two ways: therapy with or without medication and medication only.

Therapy with or without medication:

  • An initial consultation for therapy with or without medication is 90 minutes long. During the first 60 minutes Dr. Ben does a full psychiatric and psychological evaluation and then explains to you-- from both a biological and psychological perspective—what is going with you. During the final 30minutes he will provide you with the different medication and therapy options to best treat your symptoms.

  • Follow-up combined medication and therapy sessions are 45 minutes long and occur on a weekly basis.

  • Dr. Ben also schedules 15 minutes between each patient so that he does not have to rush you out of the office, he can write and think critically about what you said in session, and to make sure he starts on time for the next patient.

Medication Only

  • An initial consultation for medication only is 60 minutes long. During this time, Dr. Ben does only a psychiatric evaluation and then provides to you the biological reasons for what is going on with you as well as the medication options for what you came in with.

  • Follow-up medication only sessions occur once a month and last 30 minutes.

Adult patients can also see Dr. Ben from their home or office using their phone or computer

  •    If clinically appropriate, follow up appointments for all adult patients can be completed in using HIPAA compliant software such as Facetime and Vsee.

Children and Adolescents

Dr. Ben is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and therapist. An initial psychiatric and psychological evaluation for a child or adolescent is done over a period of 4 hours. Dr. Ben does not do medication only evaluations for children or adolescents.

  • 1hr meeting with the parents
  • 1hr meeting with the child or adolescent
  • 1hr for a phone conversation with the student’s school to review past academic and medical records
  • 1hr feedback session with the family

Typically, appropriate treatment plans for children and adolescents require weekly therapy visits for the patient and regular parenting sessions with the parents. Follow up sessions for parents can be completed over the phone or using a HIPAA compliant software program. All sessions for children and adolescents must occur in the office.

While we will help you receive full insurance benefits, you are responsible for the fee associated with the services rendered.

Myat is available to assist patients with any insurance or reimbursement questions that may arise. She can be reached at (917) 732-3990 and myat@parkavedoctors.com.
